I Knit

So, this Christmas, I decided (like many Christmases before) to make homemade gifts. This year seemed especially the time for it though because of the state of the economy. However, most other years I start these projects around the end of October, early November, to get them done on time, but I lose my focus or I give up and poop out before I even finish one.

But this year is different. This is the year I learned to knit. I cringed as I bought a $15 knitting loom set and about $10 more worth of yarn. This year, however.. I have completed 8 hats and am now moving on to bigger and better things.. household items (towels, washcloths) a tote bag, and who knows what in the future! Even doing some fancy stitches!

I feel like an old lady sometimes, sitting on the couch knitting while watching This Old House or Antiques Road Show. But you know.. it's fun. Knitting - Is - Fun. I said it. There's some kind of satisfaction you get out of making something so neat with a strand of yarn, a hoop with pegs, and a little hook. It also means a lot to give them to other people, who also appreciate them. There's nothing better than seeing the hats I made be worn every day and being told about the compliments they've received.

Here are pictures of 3 of them that I've done. This doesn't include the boys' hats, but they're not as cute as these ones are!
